Katie’s declassified skincare survival guide
In today’s world everything can feel heavy & overwhelming, & I don’t know about you, but it’s made me want to hide away and not interact with anyone — especially online.
If you’re new here (which is everyone considering this is my first post, but that’s besides the point)… anyway, hi! Let me introduce myself. I’m Katie, the owner & esthetician of Skin & Soul Esthetics.
Being the owner means showing up in a lot of ways — marketing, scheduling, cleaning, ordering… you get it. The list goes on. I also have an extreme love for what I do. If you heard me talk or saw what I research in a day, it’s almost always esthetics-related. Should I be going on and on about this? Probably not. But you’ll learn that about me — I overshare.
Instead, I should be telling you all about how January is a reset and how we all need to start the year off fresh with routines & motivation. But that’s just not who I am. I’m sure there are a million others telling you exactly that, so I don’t need to repeat it. Somewhere along the way, I got lost trying to figure out my identity for my business and online presence — and forgot the simplest part of what I offer: authentic, honest support.
Skincare can feel overwhelming — too many products, too much advice, & a lot of rules that don’t actually work in real life. Your skin doesn’t need extremes. It needs support.
I love the 90s/2000s, so I’m bringing back the blog in the form of a survival guide to everything skincare (waxing education too)! This is my way of breaking skincare down into something more approachable, honest, & human. No gatekeeping. No shame. No chasing trends that leave your skin confused & your wallet empty.
Think of this as the stuff I tell my clients in the treatment room — the rules, survival tips, & reminders I wish we all had in our teens & early 20s. The kind of skincare education that meets you where you are & helps you understand why your skin does what it does.
I believe great skincare isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistency, balance, & learning how to care for your skin without punishing it.
Whether you’re just getting started, trying to unlearn bad habits, or simply want to feel more confident in your routine — you’re in the right place.
Xoxo— katie, your skin responder
